As we already have informed you, on Sunday 03/17/2019, the PALT association held an informational meeting in the Aptos. Aloe in Playa del Inglés.

Just in case you couldn’t attend it, we’d like to inform you that it has been the one with the higher level of attendance among those held by our association so far.

Also legal aspects and contents of the new Tourism Law Project PL-0005 (Proyecto de Ley sobre Turismo PL-0005) that Canary Parliament intended to approve before the end of its legislative period, were explained by the Directive Board of the PALT during the meeting.

As it has been reported through our Facebook page and official website, this Law Project has been elaborated by the proposal of Román Rodriguez of NUEVA CANARIAS (NC) group, with the support of COALICIÓN CANARIA (CC) and PARTIDO SOCIALISTA OBRERO ESPAÑOL (PSOE) while Parliament political groups of PODEMOS and PARTIDO POPULAR (PP) announced their dissenting vote alongside the CC local group operating in San Bartolomé de Tirajana municipality that has also declared itself against the proposal in order to defend the legitimate rights of tourist areas residing citizens.

We’d like to point out that through this new proposal, Canarian politicians are trying again to ban holiday rentals, this time alongside regular rents regulated by Spanish Urban Rents Law (Ley de Arrendamientos Urbanos, LAU) from the touristic areas, even when the Spanish Supreme Court (Tribunal Supremo de Justicia de España) declared that holiday rentals banning dispositions were illegal with ruling nº 1766/2018 won by PALT lawyer.

So this time politicians from NC, CC and PSOE are trying to put themselves above the Constitution, Justice and even the Spanish Supreme Court, openly attacking our rights as small owners of apartments and bungalows in tourist areas of the Canary Islands.

We want to let you know that the ultimate and sole purpose of those individuals is to mutilate our rights, using the promulgation of laws with the clear scope to leave us so torn and broken to be completely helpless.

For this reason, we must react and publicly affirm that enough is enough and that they have to stop trying to threaten us and our heritage.

For everything we told you PALT decided to summon all members and whole Canarian society to a mass display of rejection of the new law project and tourism legislation as a whole, whose purpose is to expel us from our homes. We must show our outrage over so much abuse and harassment. The politicians and their laws only care about economic interests of few actors and don’t defend common affairs and general interest of population. This is highlighted by judges of the Spanish Supreme Court in ruling nº 1766/2018.

THE DEMONSTRATION WILL BE ON FRIDAY 29/03/2019 AT 18.00 O’CLOCK, IN “PLAZA DR. RAFAEL O’SHANAHAN” (Square behind the old “Clínica del Pino”).

WE ASK YOU TO BE PRESENT ALONGSIDE FELLOW MEMBERS TO PUBLICLY DISPLAY OUR DEEPEST REJECTION OVER THIS STRATEGY OF ILLEGAL AND IRREGULAR HARASSMENT AGAINST OUR RIGHTS AND PERSONA. PUBLICLY DENOUNCE SOCIAL DAMAGES THAT THESE POLITICIANS AND THEIR LAWS ARE CAUSING US.

TAKE YOUR FAMILY, CHILDREN, DAUGHTERS, PARENTS, MOTHERS, FRIENDS, THAT AT ANY MOMENT ENJOYED YOUR APARTMENT OR BUNGALOW.

THAT DAY WE MUST BE SO MANY THAT THE PLAZA IS GOING TO APPEAR VERY SMALL!!
